my horizons lie across the sea
setting out into the mystery
waves break in a crash
above us the unbroken skies
as we sail into the night
on a vessel to new lives
and inside my heart flies
the sprawling ocean has called out to me
whispering since the threshold of my memory
cresting whitecaps, the ebb and flow and the undertow
now home at last the sound of the sea a lullaby
each rolling night as i close my eyes
freedom on the ocean far from the world we know
from atop a mast, i can see past forever
my only sorrow lies away from the sea i adore
where my love was left on the lonely shore
waves break in a crash
she gave her heart to me
until the collapse of eternity
and now my heart dies
as the storm comes to life
now the skies ahead have bled away their guiding light
the sea that would give us our future may take it away
and from the mast i can no longer see past forever
I received this as a surprise present by the band for pre-ordering the upcoming album, so thanks a lot to you, too :-))
As could be expected by Pat Sanders & Co, highly melodic prog that should, for instance, appeal too friends of Fish-era Marillion (although Uncle Fish would never have reached those high notes ;-) ) and some instrumentals (from beautiful miniatures like Bubbles to the more epic Last Supper). Among many other fine things offered here, I especially love Pat's piano playing! Carsten Pieper
Streamlining their post-metal sprawl through a sharper melodic focus, the Scottish juggernauts' third LP is labyrinthine yet approachable. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 25, 2024
